HOTEL DOÑA MARIA
SURROUNDINGS OF THE HOTEL DOÑA MARIA
Hotel Doña Maria is located at the foot of the Cathedral and Giralda on the edge of barrio
Santa Cruz. Upon leaving the hotel we step into this plaza in front of the Cathedral.
A quick glance up from the plaza offers a view of the Giralda.
Entering the Cathedral we climb to the top of the Giralda. In the center of the photo below you
can see the hotel roof terrace with swimming pool.
We leave the Cathedral and Giralda and walk for 1 minute to the Alcázar's main entrance.
Walking for another minute we arrive in the Plaza de Banderas for another view of the Cathedral
behind the Alcázar walls.
Leaving the plaza we follow the same fortress walls into barrio Santa Cruz.
After another minute's walk we arrive to the Plaza Alianza, typical of Santa Cruz. There are
two restaurants behind us which offer dining in the same plaza.
Bodega Santa Cruz, or "Las Columnas" as it
is known to locals, is just down the street on calle Rodrigo Caro. The
bar is famous as a meeting point to enjoy a few tapas and a cold beer.
Less than one minute away we find Pizzeria San Marco, a famous Italian
restaurant in Seville. The restaurant is on the site of some 12th century
Arab baths, most notable at the entrance.
We return to the Hotel Doña Maria in the evening for a view of
the Giralda from the hotel's own roof top bar and terrace.
