HOSTAL CATEDRAL

SURROUNDINGS OF THE HOSTAL CATEDRAL

Hostal Catedral is located in the juderia, or old Jewish quarter of Seville, between the Puerta de Carmona and Puerta de la Carne. Just around the corner from the hotel is a pedestrian street view typical of this section of the city.

Just to the right of the blue building in the photo above we find Iglesia San Bartolome, which was once a synagogue.

Inside the church: a painted ceiling in the smaller chapel.

The Convento de las Mercedarias is in the plaza close by.

One minute from the convent and just three minutes from the hostal we find La Carboneria, a favorite spot for visitors and locals seeking nightlife. Live flamenco performances plus exhibits featuring works by local and regional artists are typical in the large bar.

In the opposite direction, we find Bodega Extremeña in Puerta Carmona, famous for meats and cheeses from the province of Extremadura.

A few meters away is Iglesia San Esteban, located on the corner of calle San Esteban and calle Imperial.

Another minute's walk leads us to the Casa de Pilatos, a famous casa-palacio.
