HOTEL MARIAN
SURROUNDINGS OF THE HOTEL MARIAN
Hotel Marian is located in the Santa Catalina neighborhood and is just a few minutes
walk to the Plaza Alfalfa. On our way to the Alfalfa from the Hotel
we arrive at Plaza Cristo de Burgos, a recently renovated square.
The birthplace of the painter Velazquez is just behind the Plaza Cristo
de Burgos on calle Moreria.
From the house we follow calle Sales y Ferre to the Plaza Alfalfa. Bar
Manolo, just to the left in the photo, is a popular place to eat outside
in the Plaza. They offer large portions from a typical Andalusian menu at very reasonable prices.
Now we leave from the Hotel and follow calle Alhondiga in the opposite
direction. Within 1 minute we find the Santa Catalina church.
To the right of the church we follow calle Juan de Mesa for one minute
and arrive at the Plaza del Juaregui. There is a small playground for children in the plaza.
To our right is the supermarket Mas y Mas.
On the other side of the plaza is Horno San Buenaventura, a favorite place for breakfast, coffee and pastries.
To the left of Santa Catalina church is Cerveceria El Tremendo,
a favorite meeting spot for locals and know for serving the coldest beer in Sevilla.
Just behind the Santa Catalina church is El Rinconcillo, Sevilla's oldest
bar which was founded in 1670. The bar is popular amongst tourists and
locals for it's atmosphere and good tapas. Try the serrano ham.
On the other end of calle Alhondiga and just a two minute walk from the Hotel is the Plaza de San Leandro.
From the Plaza we walk another three minutes on calle Caballeriza to
the Casa de Pilatos. Below we see a procession during Semana Santa.
Opposite the Casa de Pilatos in the plaza is a statue of the painter Zurbarán.
