HOTEL MAESTRANZA
SURROUNDINGS OF THE HOTEL MAESTRANZA
Hotel Maestranza is in the Arenal neighborhood, between the Cathedral and the Guadalquivir River.
Upon leaving the hotel we find Cerverceria Internacional, a bar
boasting Sevilla's largest selection of beers from around the world. Over
300 different kinds of brews can be ordered from their menu.
Just one block from the Hotel we find ourselves in the Plaza Nueva.
Just behind the Plaza Nueva is Plaza San Francisco and the Ayuntamiento,
or town hall.
We now move on to explore the Arenal neighborhood. Around the corner from
the hotel on calle Harinas is El Rincon del Pulpo Gallego, famous for
food from the region of Galicia, including octopus (pulpo) and
cider from nearby Asturias.
The Plaza del Cabildo is a 5 minute walk from calle Harinas. The ornate
building and plaza hosts the Sunday morning collectibles market. Stamps,
coins, semi-precious stones and other collectable's are on sale.
We make our way towards the river and just on the corner of calle Arfe
is a famous churros stand: it is said to provide churros for
the King's breakfast when he is staying in the Alcazar nearby.
As we make our way down calle Dos de Mayo towards the river we look back
for a view of the Cathedral.
At the end of calle Dos de Mayo we cross the main avenue and arrive at the
river walk along the Rio Guadalquivir. Here we see a statue in tribute to
Mozart, with the Torre del Oro in the background.
Following the river walk we find the Plaza de Toros, or bullring. We now
have just a 5 minute walk back to the Hotel.
