Hostel Santa Catalina is situated in the centre of Seville, just next to the Santa Catalina church. The immediate surroundings include Plaza de los Terceros, an area well known for tapas bars and restaurants such as El Rinconcillo, Seville's oldest tavern. The hostel is convenient to the Alfalfa and Santa Cruz quarters, and is approximately 7 minutes from the main shopping district. Just across the street from the hostel guests can catch the new mini city bus, with service to all of the major monuments: La Casa de Pilatos, Cathedral/Alcazar, Plaza de Toros and Museum of Fine Arts. The hostel is also close to two plazas which serve as the principal hubs for Seville's city bus system. The hostel is a good value for guests looking for a central location close to many of the popular tapas bars and restaurants in the Santa Catalina and Alfalfa quarters. Aside from the excellent tapas and dining choices, the immediate area around the hostel offers two bakeries, a small grocery store, direct bus lines to the city center monuments and the train station. We like the central waiting room and television lounge, which provide guests with extra space to relax. We also enjoy the views from the balcony rooms which offer a close up view of the Santa Catalina church. Following calle Alhondiga to calle Bustos Tavera we find our favorite routes to see some of Seville's most interesting churches. The twenty minute walk takes us past the San Marco, Santa Marina and San Luis de los Franceses churches, ending with one of Seville's most famous: the Basilica de la Macarena. |
